We work in ways that honor the rights of women, indigenous communities and other minorities.

IDEX values initiatives that come from people who want to create change for themselves. We provide the financial support. Local leaders and community members do the rest. The work of our grantees typically integrate two or more themes:

Women’s Empowerment

In most cases, women stand to gain the most in any community. When their lives change, so do their children’s lives.

Building Local Economies

Helping families build income in sustainable ways is fundamental to solving other problems.

Caring for the environment

For many of the communities IDEX supports, land, water, and seeds are central to their survival, livelihoods and health.

Together with these 3 themes, our partners and grantees work in ways that honor the rights of women, indigenous communities and other minorities, reflect economic, social, cultural and political realities, and create solutions that have commitment from the grassroots.

We invite you to read our success stories to learn more about how your gift can create lasting solutions to poverty.

The causes of poverty are intertwined. So are the solutions.
