Gandhi's Living Legacy – An Evening with GRAVIS

When: Thursday, February 2nd, 5:30-7:30pm

Where: Oakland Peace Center – Shelton Hall, 111 Fairmount Avenue, Oakland Map

January 30th marks the 64th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a man whose principles, actions, and visions continue to inspire people around the world. What is the legacy of Gandhi? How does his work live on today, in India, in the Bay Area, and in each one of us? What can we still learn from him? And, how do our struggles to thrive relate with those in communities halfway around the world?

IDEX, YES! and the Oakland Peace Center are pleased to offer a unique opportunity to dialogue about the living legacy of Gandhi with special guest Dr. Prakash Tyagi.

Dr. Tyagi is the director of GRAVIS, an IDEX partner dedicated to supporting a diversity of programs that build resiliency, self-reliance and collective power among rural desert communities. We'll have an opportunity to hear his story, learn about his organization's contributions and the Gandhian influence. We'll also have time to connect our experiences with his and explore relevant applications for ourselves, the Bay Area, and beyond.

For more information, check out the Facebook invitation for this event.
