Why I Support IDEX
The work of IDEX and our inspiring grantees around the world is possible only through the generosity and commitment of our donor and advocate community.
Meet some of our wonderful supporters:
Susan Kahn
"I like how IDEX very carefully selects who they want to work with. IDEX goes to the most remote and neglected places and finds organizations that don't yet have the kind of funding they need, but have enough internal structures and potential to grow."
Susan Kahn and her husband David Kaskowitz in India.
Apart from volunteering at IDEX, Susan and her family have long been supporters of IDEX’s work and have had an especially close connection to GRAVIS, one of IDEX’s partners in India.
Since her time at IDEX, Susan noted that IDEX is more established now than it was years ago when she first became a volunteer. She observed tremendous growth in how IDEX gives and supports organizations. “It’s a major change how IDEX has moved from funding individual projects to forming long term partnerships. IDEX approaches their partners with the idea of ‘you know what you need,’ rather than ‘we are the experts’ so we will decide what’s best.” Read more on Susan's experience with IDEX here.
Jonah Silas Sheridan
"My experience as a donor and volunteer for IDEX has been an education in values driven philanthropy."
Jonah Silas Sheridan, IDEX donor and volunteer
Jonah's support has helped IDEX in many of its endeavors with local communities. "Their commitment to local empowerment and sustainable solutions has truly made me not just a better donor, but a better activist and global citizen as well. The humility and humanity with which IDEX approaches every partnership never ceases to inspire me in my own life," Jonah shared.
Ravi Agarwal
"While travelling last year in Nepal, I was able to visit with ASHA, a long-time IDEX partner. It was then that IDEX’s work felt even more 'real' to me. I could see how effective the grants are in providing grassroots leaders with the fuel to be able to do even more in their communities."
Ravi Agarwal, an IDEX donor
Ravi Agarwal has a longtime passion for travelling and volunteering. As a succesful entrepreneur, with already three technology companies under his belt, Ravi said he feels his life took a different turn. "I recently sold most of my belongings and vacated my apartment in San Francisco. I am now officially without a residence, traveling around the world. The end date is unknown!" Kellye Denton
"IDEX truly focuses on helping grassroots groups build sustainable organizations that are dedicated to empowering community members."
Kellye Denton, a long-term IDEX Volunteer
Kellye has been a volunteer at IDEX since 2010 after travelling and volunteering abroad with the Peace Corps. "While the Peace Corps taught me that change is within me, my work at IDEX has given me the courage and the vision to pursue that change in ways that I had not previously imagined," Kellye said.
"IDEX has provided me with an incredible experience that will not only help me move in the right direction, but will keep me connected to its unmatched drive and commitment to be a champion for social transformation!," she shared. Click here to read more on Kellye's experience at IDEX.
